This instability in the way we think and feel about ourselves often cause depression. Unfortunately, these very same insecurities that lead to depression can also lead to a variety of eating disorder including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating. Often, individuals develop eating disorders in their attempts to make themselves happy and feel good about the way they look. Most of the time, as the eating disorder progresses, they begin to find happiness solely in their thinning yet increasingly unhealthy bodies. If you are beginning to think this way about yourself, watch out as this is one of the more obvious eating disorder symptoms that should alert you to seek professional help. There are a host of other eating disorder symptoms that you should look out for in yourself and in your loved ones. Those afflicted with eating disorders will embark on sudden bursts of exercise and crash diets. They will avoid food, if not toy with them during meals. Moreover, after a good full meal, most individuals with eating disorders would feel guilt and have the urge to purge out the food that they’ve eaten either by vomiting or by taking in too much laxatives. Be wary and be alert. Always bear in mind that eating disorders can be fatal as the lack of nutrition will eventually take its toll on our bodies and cause our organs to cease working properly.
